the challenge
To deliver this job accurately and on
time, co-ordinating all stages of the process and keeping
track of progress using a detailed status log.
To achieve this, our project manager
started by putting together a team of dedicated translators,
all with previous Textron experience. To reinforce
consistency, all translators used glossaries that were
continuously updated.
A production schedule was drawn up and
deadlines fixed to ensure the smooth running of the
entire project. The project manager acted as a point
of contact, dealing with queries from both the translators
and client, and keeping the client informed of progress
throughout.
Textron's technical authoring company
provided the English master QuarkXPress file to us.
From this our in-house typesetting studio created a
master multi-lingual edition of the file.
Once the translations had been carefully
proof-read and approved by our in-house team we typeset
two 3-language manuals and a 4-language manual in QuarkXPress.
We proof-read all the manuals and then
sent them to Textron's agents on their behalf for their
in-house proofreading and approval.
Final amendments were supplied to us
and, after inserting them, we created both low resolution
and high resolution pdf files.
After delivery all work was backed up
to CD, one copy stored on-site and a duplicate copy
stored off-site.
